Default Replacing the rubber cam plug..Q

92 B17 GS-R. I need to replace the leaking original exhaust cam plug behind the VTEC solenoid. My question is, when you remove the cam covers on a VTEC engine is there anything under them that will pop off or out?
Or are there any tricks to lifting up the exhaust cam, so that the the cam plug can be replaced? Is the exhaust cam held in by a C clip or retaining ring?
Or does the timing belt need to be loosened to get enuogh room to lift up the dizzy side of the camshaft?
The helms does NOT explain this AT ALL.
TIA.

The exhaust cam plug (dizzy side) is just a plastic plug with an o-ring. It has snap fits in the end to hold it in place. I had my cam holders off when I replaced it, but I'm sure it should come right out.

On my '95 GSR I couldn't get the old rubber cam plug out; I had to take off the last cam cap. Nothing popped out or fell apart...

So there is nothing underneath the cam rail holder holding the cam in?
No snap rings or spring clips?

Do I need to remove the exhaust cam?
Or can I just lift up the dizzy end of it, and slide the the plastic plug out?
And then wedge the new one in?

You don't have to move the camshaft at all. Just the last cam cap.

There's no ID number, but way over on the left of the picture there's a bolt marked #16. First you unbolt & take off the long bar across the top of all the cam caps. Then unbolt the last cam cap over by that #16 bolt. It's stuck because you use HondaBond under it. That uncovers the cam plug.

This can be done with the belt still on and the cam still in..

It is under pressure but the holder on the intake cam
is still in place and will hold it down..

I also thought this was going to be complicated
and require cam removal but it is simple and relatively painless..

Hey Guy..
