Default Can i keep my swaybar with 88 lca's ?

I have a 89 Si Hatch and I got a set of rear Koni's for 88's so i have to replace my rear lca's. My question is can i keep my rear swaybar? Do the 88 lca's have the mounting points for the sway bar? Can i use the type r lca because those for sure have the holes for the rear swaybar. Thanks!

yes you can. just run ITR control arms. some people say they are different and wont work, but they dont know ****. i KNOW. i am running 88crx/ITR koni yellows on the rear of my 90 hatch, and i have ITR control arms on the rear also w/spherical ball bearing bushings. before i put them all together, i made SURE they were the same length as the factory ones, and they were. its a direct bolt up deal. i'm not sure if 88 LCA's have swaybay mounts, but i'm sure some have to have them. good luck man.

88 LCA don't have sway bar endlinks to bolt into. I just bought a 88 std and had to swap over my 90 LCA so my koni would work. I also tried putting on my stock si rear sway bar but it doesn't work because their are no threads in the rear to mount that sway bar up to. Its just to hollow holes their. It can work with the ad of the St kit.

dan4g63, yeah, i noticed a differnce, but who knows what it is really because of. i installed h&r race springs, koni yellows, and the ITR LCA's w/ spherical BB bushings all at the same time. they work just fine....theoretically the LCAs wouldnt help your handling, but the koni's will, i promise.

BTW, yeah, i'm going to the WMHM at gingerman....i'm actually on the staff for the meet. should be a GREAT time. i'm really looking forward to it. hope to meet you there man! -adam jabaay

instead of using rubber bushings, i'm using a kit that uses spherical ball bearings and a bunch of shims...very still, transmits a lot of road noise, etc, but it's pretty nice stuff.

spherical ball bearings are pretty hardcore for the street. Only downside to them is that they wear out faster and make a whole lot of road noise like Redzcstandardhatch mentioned.

The 88 CRX Si defintely has the correct holes and stuff in the LCA to put in the sway bar. It's the SAME as the ITR LCA, but the CRX ones have some protective rubber stuff sprayed on them - kind of like that tar sound deadening stuff. The ITR LCA is just metal that's painted.

Is there any other way you can tell apart the 88 lca's from the type r's ?

88 CRX Si comes with sway bars.

(KONIs made for 88 CRXs with ITR LCAs)

ITR and 88 CRX Si's LCAs are the SAME design but DIFFERENT width for the rear struts to mount.

With that said, you are going to have to shim (with washers) your KONIs if you want them to fit snug in the ITR LCA.

Hope that helps.

The way I did my rear sway bar was using 90 civic LCR's and we welded the sway bar bracket to the place on the fram where the holes aren't threaded. Two years or so and it works fine
