Default FUEL PUMP PLUG

Ok here is the story. I have 1988-civic dx and a 1990 civic si with a b20z2 the 90 was hit by a dumb lady. the 88 is all stock. in the process of swaping the parts and harness i noticed that the 1988 civic dx fuel pump plug is a 3 wire and my 90 is a 4 wire. the 90 is a flat plug. The 88 is different how do you get them to work? do i have to change the fuel pump over thanks a bunch. if i have to change fuel pump how do you do it and do you have to drop the gas tank.

Default Re: FUEL PUMP PLUG (MAUCH3)

Both actually have four wires - two for the fuel pump and two for the sender. But on the 1988, the fourth wire is connected to a ring terminal rather than the plug. All you have to do is find out which wire goes where. To do this, disconnect the plug on the tank to the sender. Find out which two wires are for the sender. on each car. You then know that the other two wires are for the fuel pump and the black fuel pump lead is for the fuel pump ground. Once you know where each wire goes, stick the three out of the four (that belong in the 1988 plug) into the proper positions on the 1988 plug. Attach a sufficient length of wire and a ring connector to the remaining ground wire.
