Build Or Replace
I recently started a hatchback project that will be turbocharged. I actually have not purchased the car yet but the ones I am looking at have 100k+ on the odometer, so I dont expected to last too long boosted. I would like to end up with 250whp.
Here is the turbo setup-
14b turbo
HF manifold
BMC Racing adapter plate
Stealthmode oil lines
TurboXS Type H BOV
DSM 450's
VAFC
Clutch (unsure)
Walboro fuel pump
If I was to build it I would just stick with rods and pistons with OEM bearings and gaskets. I want to retain a very reliable setup in the end so I would keep the boost pretty low, and keep it simple.
Importparts has Eagle connecting rods for 329, and I would have to find some pistons that would work well.
As far as price, Im still very well under budget for the entire car and build, so I can afford them.
So thats pretty much the plan, Ive never worked with internals before so Im new to this, please give me your opinions.

if u have a built block and good tuning i think u could pull 250whp. most guys that do a greddy turbo kit on a d series motor dyno at 175-200 horsepower range. if ur motor is built than u can up the boost a lil higher and ur set.
Yeah im with crx_88_si i dont think the 14b will be able to create enough power for 250 maybe 220 230 ( thats the best ive seen from homde made kits ) but then again i may be wrong.
but anyway if your building it then the mileage doesnt really matter much as long as you dont half *** the job. and if your wanting tot ap out the 14b your going to need a GOOD intercooler or you wont be able to safely boost any higher then 8 lbs.
and probably an after market fuel pressure regualtor and if you plan on running high boost you might want a better turbo (the 14b is inefective after 14 lbs ) something like a rhb5 or a t3/t4 hybrid those will run you quite a bit but there reliable. no sense in building an engine up just to slap on a underperforming turbo system ( not to rag on the 14b its a fine turbo for low to mid boost application).
just my two cents
although i seriously think you should consider a b series or h series if you want to make that much power .
