How to route the downpipe on a 99 teg with AC.
I'm helping someone do his turbo setup. We've got the car running on a P06 and 450's without any trouble. Next step is the manifold and turbo. I'm at a loss of how to mount the turbo because he wants to retain stock AC. The compressor is right where the downpipe ought to go. He's using a T3 off a saab.
Here is what I know.
The turbo will fit if the manifold exists at a 45 degree angle or less. With the downpipe on the driver's side the downpipe is difficult, air intake is easy and charge piping isn't too bad. The wastegate adjustment is very easy.
With the downpipe on the pax side the downpipe is easy, the intake is very difficult and the charge pipe is easy. The wastegate adjustment is nearly impossible.
I'm wondering if anyone has good pics of how they routed a downpipe past the AC compressor. I don't want to get into fabbing brackets to relocate the AC compressor.

The setup is being designed. I just spent about an hour looking at pics and the majority of people have the downpipe on the AC side. The trouble with this setup may just be this old SAAB turbo as the WG housing sticks out pretty far.

yeah most people w/ a/c have to run the dp on the the a/c side because when flipped around, the turbo compressor hits the a/c compressor. Most of the internally wastegated setups i've seen sit really close to the a/c compressor......
