When its cold, my transmission clicks when I'm backing up. The clicking is exactly in time with how fast I'm going, the faster I go the fast the clicking becomes. Has this happened to anyone else? Is something broken or about to break?

 

it has happened to me before, expecially when i launch the car at high RPM....not sure what the problem is.....

 

My car's only does it in reverse, first thing in the morning when its cold.

 

shouldnt click
reverse has no synchros or any fancy gears on

make sure ur oil level is good


does it go smooth into reverse??

maybe broke something inside, or there some shaft play in there as in some bearings or something..

try agian and give us a more detailed update

 

It drives perfectly fine in reverse.
My oil level is full.
Perhaps it isn't the tranny itself making the noise.

 

Maybe check out your CV Joints? I say put it up on a lift, or put the front on stands and run through 1st and Reverse while a friend cautiously and carefully listens around the car to find the sound's source.
