tire sidewall cracking
I was adding air pressure to my tires the other day when i noticed a cracking or tearing in the sidewall of my front right tire. It's about an inch and a half long. How dangerous is this to drive on? Thanks
you need to replace it asap....dont want any accidents on the road. also remember if/when it blows when you are at a high speed to accelerate. slowing down right away can result in the car potentially spinning/flipping, especially if it is a rear tire (which in your case it is not).
You might wanna check the other tire, but if you don't have the $ right now, don't worry about buying one for the other side.
One condition that causes a tire to start cracking down the sidewall is driving while having low air pressure in your tire. Sounds like that's what happened..

Yeah, i thought i saw my tire sagging so i checked it and it was 9 psi below spec, checked the others and they were also the same. Thats the last time i go back to that shop for a tire rotation.

lol, how do you know they had something to do with it? Are you sure you don't have a leak or puncture somewhere?

Well if they rotated my tires, they would have to refill them with air, and if they were all off the same amount, then i would believe that the shop didn't fill them enough.

well the cracking is from dry rot, which can be avoided if u put on armorall, megiaurs etc..it moistens them aswell as a shine.a rip..u prolly hit somethin.just get it fixxed asap.
