88 Honda Civic LX, 94 D16Z6, <U>OBD0, </U> PS9 ECU (chipped, TurboEdit2.0), 88-91 Si dizzy...
code(s): 9
its just running like ***. idle is unstable, car 'putts' (you know what i mean if you have heard it before), doesnt sound like it firing on every cylinder. timing should be at about 16-18deg (was idling better last week). car accelerates like the timing it really retarded or missing, at about the speed of a dieing CRX HF (stock)...
the code 9 apeared one night leaving work (week or two after doing my MPFI swap on the D15B2) while doing a one wheeler, been there ever sence...
please help!

It's the third sensor in the dist., and it detects the position of the No. 1 Cylinder, as the base for the Sequential Injection. It can also be located on the camshaft of DOHC engines.
CYP sensor is mounted on the exhaust cam on the ZC.
If the dist. base bearing starts failing, it will heat the sensor(s) up, destroying the magnetism thus causing a code(s). It will lose 10% of it's strenght, each time it is heated up to 170 degrees plus.
In most cases, replacing the distributor is the only alternative. Especially if the bearing has failed.
Honda does don't stock the bearing by itself, but other after-market compaines are said to have one.
If you have problems starting the engine, or drivability after the install check your cam aligment. The seizing bearing might have caused it to jump a tooth/notch or two. From the extra drag due to the bearing failing.

good luck

i highly doubt that....like i meantioned it has happened on two different motors.... i have a timing light, but there are two problems, one is that the engine wont mantian RPM and the other is the ****** timing light wont keep blinking with rotation of the engine...

yeah its the basis for the timing of the car if the sensor is bad your car will run like ****, kind of like if your cam was set at 180º off but worse

might have jumped time. My Dohc Zc did it too the other day out of the middle of nowhere its not hard to fix. Their are arrows on your cam gears they should both be pointed up and the marks on the sides should match up
i took that camera from Johnny when he passed out
haha accually i bought it like 2.5 years ago (when i bought my CRX, to take pics of it), it was the cheapest digicam that had an LCD screen on it....i will have to look for the macro though, but i dont think it has it...
i just stole the dizzy off my CRX/B18, think the turbo is scraping the housing on the CRX
so i dont think it will be needing it...doing an LSVTEC anyway
