Default CRX + B Series + Turbo = Full Length Radiator ?

All last summer I battled my temp gauge with a half sized EG radiator and 90% water with some watter wetter mixture. It got so bad that I became known for always riding around with my hood off. I just got done painting my car over the winter and I'd kind of like to ride with my hood on this season. Right now I have a manifold mocked up in my engine bay with the stock full length radiator in and a T3/T04E 57 Trim turbo sitting behind it. It looks like it might actually all work out, I was just wondering if anyone else has a manifold that keeps the stock radiator?

I have this set up with a 92-up Fluidyne and I never had cooling problems. Is your cooling system ok? Is your fan strong enough? Are you running a single core radiator? Also my DRAG mani fit my T3/T4 just fine with my full sized radiator.

To be honest I think something was wrong with your radiator then man. I am running a 92-95 Civic single core radiator with a cheap Advance Auto Parts slim fan mounted on the front with 50/50 water/anti-frezze mixture and recently it has been 80-90 degree weather and mine hasnt over-heated once. BTW this is in a 1990 CRX with B18A with DRAG III turbo kit.

i was wondering if you had to do something with your cross member to make the EG radiator fit? i have a 90 si and i cant seem to close the hood with the EG radiator.

i would think your mixture has something to do with it also.. i suggest for you to run with a better fan switch and thermostat...

There is a really good chance that it was the radiator I was using, it was honestly the worst condition radiator that I have seen. I was running about 90% water, 5% watter wetter, 5% antifreeze mixture, so that definitly was not the problem. I had an aftermarket slim fan wired to run constantly.

One thing to note though is the entire opening of my bumper is covered by the intercooler.

I really didn't like the idea of how the radiator had to sit so crooked so we're still going along with making the new manifold. Since we're making a new manifold I also get a chance to fix my curbed downpipe and move to an external wastegate.

Mine intercooler is covering all of my bumper too. I have my fan wired to a switch and I turn it on when the motor gets right above the C mark.

I have a Precision SC34 on an Inline Pro manifold and a stock sized radiator in my 91 Si hatch. I have about 1/2" clearance from the radiator to the compressor.

right now, i'm running a civic half core in my teg...its just a cheap *** napa brand radiator, and if i leave the fan on, i dont overheat...oh, and i live in hawaii, so its pretty hot weather. maybe you got air in your system. the only time my car overheated, was because i had air bubbles trapped in my cooling system. got them out, and NO problems whatsoever.

For those that are getting a stock turbo and radiator to fit, what motormounts are you using and what is your A/R on the hotside. I am using place racing mounts and there isn't any room for a stock radiator. I had some stock integra mounts that somehow worked before and it have me another inch between the radiator and turbo. I am gong to try a dual core 92+ radiator that has 1"chopped off the core. Removing 1" from the core makes it the exact same height as the stock unit. That fits no problem after that ath is done. Anyone ever thought of chopping the stock radiator in half right at the water neck? That makes the core almost identical to a single core 92+ radiator.

I run HCP mounts with a .48 exhaust housing. With my full size radiator I had about .5" to spare.

Beta13-
What type of aftermarket slim fan are you running? Is it 12" and does it push/pull enough air (CFM)? My advice to you is to go over your entire cooling system, water pump, thermostat, check your headgasket(comp test), fan speed, radiator integrity. My intercooler covers my entire bumper as well.

I'm sure it was the radiator, it was missing multiple rows of fins. I was really just more concerned if anyone had ran stock sized radiator and turbo on a crx.

That's the best pics I have of the clearance for mine. I've got a .63/stage 3 exhaust side with a .60a/r compressor, 57 trim wheel. Standard Precision SC34.

That's on Hasport welded mounts, with an InlinePro manifold.

There is about 1/2 inch of clearance there... you just can't really judge it from the pics. Radiator is a 1-800-RADIATOR direct replacement all brass part. Pretty nice radiator for the $100 I spent on it.

exospeed.com should be able to help you if you want a true 1/2 sized and OEM height (ef) radiator from C&R.

I already finished the project, I have a full length radiator, tial wastegate, and t3/t04e turbo all crammed in there. No more over heating problems.
