How long have you had your coilover/sleeve and shock combo?
I'm pushing 4 1/2 years on my Tokico/Skunks combo. How much more life do you think I got? Also, I was reading Kid1320's post about the "true coilover" systems out there, but I don't need all that. All I need is something nice for the street since I don't track my car at all. I'm mostly concerned with being able to slam for shows and raise for winter (snow).
edit - Damn, I notice there's quite a few people with suspension questions in this forum...

About 3 days. LOL! I just put mine on Friday. I hope my stuff (gc's and agx's) lasts as long as yours does.
Sounds like you got your money's worth!

i have had mine for about 3 years i think. i suggest the yellow/GC setup even for the street, gives you alot of adjustability, the dampers are bad *** and can be rebuilt if they go out on you, and the normal GC spring rate is more "sutable" DD aplications.
o and my setup is GC/AGX, they are soon to be replaced

People call things "true coilover" set-ups because it makes them feel better about spending $1000-$2000 on their street/show car.
I've run GCs off and on for 2 or 3 years now. Currently with Koni Yellows. If I spot welded my GC sleeves to my Konis, they'd be the same as a "true coilover."

yeah, I really don't care about JDM bling at this point for my suspension. I drive my car daily and I'm looking for something that will last long and allow me to dump and raise pretty extreme.
slammed_93_hatch: You mentioned the yellow/GC setup. Would that allow me to dump for shows and raise for winter? That's really my concern as again, I drive my car 365 days a year.
Thanks to all who replied!!!

yes if you go with the GC sleeve for the yellow's it will allow you to go lower then you probably want.
search around for some of the recent posts ive made, with pic's of my car. you will be able to go lower then that.

well i've had my arospeed coilover springs for a couple years now i think,
but I've been thru a couple different shocks,
first kyb agx's.. I ran too low on em and they were getting worn out, they never blew or nothin but I knew they would if I kep that up.
So I did some tricks to get more suspension travel and got neuspeed koni sports, which i've had for oohhh.... maybe half a year?
just swapped the whole setup into a new hatch, and even on stock 13" wheels I'm REALLY impressed with the handling!

Mine has been on for 2 days. Apex n1 Pro's. I didnt buy that stuff for jdm bling or whatever because you cant even see them. I did it for peace of mind, knowing i was getting just about one of the best setups out there. The handling is great, i love it.

Had ground contyrols and konis for a few years now. Kinda want to modify the valving for a little better rebound but otherwise all is good.
I actualy had skunk coils and tokico shocks when I first got my car. They worked like ***. Wish I would have know people still used that setup. I just threw them in the trash. Maybe skunk springs are better now but the ones I had were really bad.

It feels pretty good. It is alot stiffer than stock (obviously). It seems to handle great so far, though. The only problem is I keep messing with the settings! lol! Adjustability ownz.
I would like to ride in a Koni equipped car, just to see the difference though. But overall, I am happy with the purchase.

I have that same combo and I love the feel of it. Just make sure you get your car counter weighed and balanced whenever you change the coilovers because you could screw up your entire suspension without it. That is the only downfall of coilovers.
96hb, did how do you adjust yours? i thought they came with little ***** the turned but all mine came with was stickers a couple bolts and a tiny scewdriver for each strut (brand new in box)

On mine, the fronts have a little dial on the top of the strut piston rod. It is color coded and numbered 1-4. You use the little screwdriver and push down on the small dial and turn it to whatever number you want and then let it pop up. On the rear shocks, mine has an external dial near the shock fork that you can just turn from 1-8. It's pretty simple, actually. I like it.

I will be getting the Ground Control / Koni Yellow setup in the future on my coupe.
I had the Skunk2 / Tokico Blues on the hatch for about 2 years and it was a rough ride after a while. Mostly due to the shocks are just stock replacements from what I've heard. Maybe pair the skunks with a better shock.
If you want a good all around setup the GC and Yellow combo is one of the best

Ted,
I'll probably go with GC's and Koni yellows, but not until later on. Gotta wait on my tax returns!!! lol
Reggie
BTW, you got a coupe? What happened to your hatch??
