what motor do you have now? all the blocks are the same by the way...

z6 head
y8 tranny
y8 Intake Manifold

thats what you should do.

well the z6 and the y8 are the exact same motor!

I mean they are the same **** dude... the only diff between them is the valve cover...
the z6 says VTEC on it, and the y8 says HONDA.

Also the z6 flows just a tad better then the y8, just a tad, prolly you wont be able to notice it at all, ( i havent ) I'v been working with SOHCs for a while now..

anyways. the y8 tranny and the y8 intake manifold is way better then the z6, the head is the same.

also the compression of the y8 is slightly higher so it puts out a few more horses (like 2 or 3 i think)

ROFLMAO....WRONG...**** that too small WRONG!!!

How do you say that they are the same yet the Z6 head flows better, yet you again say the head is the same?

Z6 has a comp of 9.2:1 while the Y8 has a comp of 9.6:1

The Z6 is by far the better head design
While the Y8 has a much better combustion chamber design.

****, this just pisses me off. Start reading Noobie before you give advise!

To the creator: Z6 full engine, it makes things easier. Y8 tranny because the Y8 although the gearing is the same as the Z6 tranny has steel shifter forks over the Z6 aluminum ones.

My sohc pick = a Y8 tranny, Z6 engine and a Edelbrock Z6 Intake manifold, unless you can afford the turbo kit.

GSR-Civic, please don't ever reply to something again unless you double check your information. What a bunch of crap. Thank god spade replied before I could.

Most 8valve motors only have valve reliefs in the pistons for 8 valves, but some people have pulled the heads on their 92-95 cx's and found their pistons to have 4 reliefs per piston, versus the two an 8valve would have.

This guy asked for advice.. GSR-civic just tried to help.. If he is wrong, try and be a little more mature about correcting him..

It was pointless to grill him like that......

go with the z6 because the y8 is more of a pain in the *** to install.

the z6 will bolt right in where as the y8 has to be modified.

if u keep powersteering the z6 bracket doesn't fit quite right on the y8 and has to be modified. and the y8 powersteering pump won't work because its the wronge size.

the y8 dizzy has to be modified. where as the z6 will wire right up.

the z6 with a y8 manifold will produce the same hp, have stronger rods, and flow alittle better. so it would be better for boost.

the z6 also can fit a water temp sensor alot easyer than the y8.

get a complete z6, and if u blow the tranny in a year or so get a y8 tranny to replace it. get a cheap y8 intake manifold to use aswell. or the edelbrock.

the slightly higher compression (like .2 or .4 i think...could be wrong, but it IS higher) puts out more power...it's like FI you increase the cylinder pressure and you get more power at the lower rpm which is due to you having more air and therefore more O2 and therefore more fuel can be put in and more create power! hope this helps man

More Compression and a better Intake Manfiold

Milled Z6 head with A6 pistons and Y8 tranny is the optimal setup...edelbrock and skunk2 are good IM choices, smsp and bisi are good header choices.

Don't judge anything about the Z6 until you get that CX tranny OUTTA THERE!!!

If your CX motor is a mid 93 and up, it will have four valve reliefs.
You can do the mini me deal and check that out for a while...?
But I too vote Z6 in it's entirety.
