Default Stock Spring Rates vs Tein S-Tech.......strange???

I searched and found that the stock ed spring rates are 250f/150r, (although i'm not sure how accurate this is since the info wasn't easy to find). Then I looked up the Tein S-tech's which are on my gf's crx. The S-tech's are 268f/123r (according to Tein's website)......are these numbers correct? It seems strange that there would be a 7.2% increase in stiffness in the front and an 18% decrease in the rear. Or am I missing something? Are the stock rears progressive and the tein's linear or something? Or is there a discrepency in units in which each is measured? It just seems odd to me that the rear would get softer. Hopefully someone can set me straight on this.

I've seen aftermarket lowering springs that were way softer then factory....the thing is, is they are lowering springs made for the street and have no bearing on performance only looks.

Now I dont know alot about Tein's lineup as far as springs go but I do know they make a "show car" spring, maybe thats what you have.

the reason i'm confused is that the ride seems a bit harsher than i'd expect. we bought the car with the tein's kyb gr2's and 195-50-15 yokomaha's, so the shocks and tire will affect ride as well... but it still seems like the ride is a bit more harsh than to be expected with the spring rates given by tein (when compared to what is supposed to be stock). maybe i'm just not used to crx's?

by the way, what springs have you seen that are softer than stock? I haven't seen that before. I know many are not really oriented towards performance (unfortunately) but still all the ones i've seen raise the rate at least a little.

Im curious to know do those teins really drop your car all that much? b18chatch did a writeup for those on his hatch(ef). and it looked great, but the drop was really minimal.

I had them on my 240sx... i know you guys are wondering with hondas...

but it dropped it jstu a tad.. not too dramatic... still have like a soda can gap... it was with kyb gr2's it felt really great.... cornering was much better and even in pot holes or any holes it felt like it didnt exist... smooth ride.....

it might not be the "tuck" look but it was somethign i was looking for... kinda like a sleeper drop... it was low.. but not too low nor too high... you still haev to do the sideway stunna on ramps or waht not....

Mickee: what size tire were you running? cause the setup on my gf's crx isn't smooth over bumps.

Kasper: IM B2finity, he is the one we bought the car from and he has pics. I definitely think it would look better lower, but it still looks good. And its nice to have the ground clearance and for my gf its nice to have a more stock looking car so she doesn't get harrassed by cops or by ricers who want to race.
