Whining sounds (like the sound of the gears goin reverse)
its in the area of the power steering pump...
its always constantly whining...and gets louder as i accelerate

timing belt is like a little loose
other drive belts are fine

what can make all this noise? it sounds like its dying

I just went through this, its the PS pump.. Trust me Got a new one, fixed it..

 

are you completely positive? my 95 gsr also whines, and when its cold out is really loud. its been like this for about 2yrs now, i just ignore it, it sounds like a noisy belt or something. Sound familiar>??

 

2years! how can u ignore that!

 

check your power steering fluid out. not sure if thats what it is, but ive done little things like that before and pulled my hair out for nothing.

 

I had a car with a leaking power steering pump and everytime I heard it I knew I had to add fluid

 

yeah, 2yrs!

its not super loud, but with the radio and vtec, I manage

Time to fix it though (amongh other things --- if you read my other posts) and now this is when i show how ignorant i really am...where do i check to see if my PS fluid is low?
