Need Info: 92 b18a into 89 CRX Si
All right, its time for the big swap for the CRX. I got a complete LS motor. So I need to know everything there is to know about this swap. WIRING, mounts, swapping, whatever it takes to do it. Im primerly looking for what parts I will need (mounts, axles, etc.), how to put it in the CRX, and most importantly, the wiring. Cause I know that will be the hardest part.
Thanks for all the help guys

Yeah I did search and came up with no results that I wanted. Some people are like I think I need this or that. So nothings for sure and I hate running around guessing. I couldnt find anything on wiring except the Hasport Harness. Mounts, Im pretty sure will just have to be Hasport.
I'm confused on the whole axle thing and which ones to exacly use for the CRX. And then the wiring, what harness do I have to use and what ECU.
I searched and found something, but I need definite answers.
thanks again, sorry if its been covered. If you got links to where I can find this info, thats fine also.

Ah ok, well at least you tried, that's the main thing.
You're gonna need to use the Integra intermediate shaft and axles. I'm 99 percent sure you can use your 92 ones, but I know that 90-91 non-abs axles and intermediate shaft will fit 100 percent. You'll also need to remove the dust ring from your hubs. Very simple to do, it surrounds the axle hole on the inside of the hub. You'll need to pry it out with a screwdriver.
You'll use your 89 CRX Si wiring harness. You've got a few options here. You can either use the OBD-I 92 ECU and distributor, but you'll need to convert to OBD-I. OR you can pick up a 90-91 Teg distributor and ECU and use those with no wiring changes. THE OBD-I roue is better, since those motors made more power and I think the OBD-I ECU is a little more aggressive.
Mounts: Use HASport. They're the best. Get a HASport mount and shift linkage kit and rest east knowing that you've purchased quality parts.

Contact the "back-issue" department of Sport Compact Car and request that they send you a copy of the May 2003 (volume 15, no. 05) issue.
It has a very good write-up putting a B18a in a 91 hatchback.

Thank you Mr S for the info
So on the wiring, what do you mean "convert to ODB 1" I know what it means, but when you say that, is there other things that I have to do to convert to ODB1? JUst the ECU and dizzy? How plug and play will the wiring be or is the slicing and dicing to do?
thanks again!

if you want the easy way to do it, here it easy
swap obd1 dizzy with obd0
swap obd1 injectors with obd0
swap obd1 ECU with obd0
swap obd1 02 sensor with obd0
little bit harder way
switch injector clips with obd1
switch dizzy plug for obd1
swich and add wires for 02
purchase or make obd0 to obd1 piggy back
i know blown90hatch makes them and Newman has these from honda-tech
get hasport bseries motor cable trans to 88-91 chassis(or anyother mount kit)
get 89-91 SIR shift linkage or someother aftermarket one that will fit
don't forget to bang the driver side frame rail for alternator replacement
don't forget to bang the rear mount lip down for the rear mount that you'll need

im planning to swap my 92 teg b18 to my rex within a few months... but so far

90-91 teg ls obd-0 wiring harness
90-91 teg ls pr4 obd-0 manual dizzy
90-93 axles

I know you have to put a dent in the frame for the alternator pully. but the rear mount Is news to me.
found a pretty good deal for the mounts and the shift linkage from hasport
http://hasport.com/shop/produc...d=107
$549.20 for both
going to be ordering that tonight or tomorow.

it's alot easier to do to make the rear mount fit
that 1/2 inch to work the rear mount to fit...
i've done plenty of EF swaps to give you some advise
over 50+ b series in EFs

the only reason you need the ls engine harness would be for what? doesn't plug and play!!! you'll only need it for plugs and misc items...but if you have the 88-91 si harness your good

you mean OBD-1? if the motor is OBD-1 then yes. you need to convert to be able to go to the Smog Ref to get BAR certified.

I thought that you were ref'd based upon the year of the car you have. So if that was the case it would then be smogged OBD-0?
but its OBD-1 then...ok, then I guess I would have to take the OBD-1 route..

based on engine not chasis.
