Default ITR Radiator in GSR Sedan?

I need to replace my radiator ASAP - it has many cracks in the top part.

Is the ITR radiator a true drop-in / bolt-on without having to "fit" it?

Who has these and for what $?

Is it really worth the money or should I just stick with an aftermarket OEM replacement?

What is a good aftermarket replacement and where to get it?

Thanks

Is a different radiator on the Type R upgrade list? I've never heard that.

The Type-R radiator would be a direct drop-in replacement. But it is fairly expensive (approx. $450). FYI, the only benefit the Type-R radiator has is that weighs slightly less than the GS-R radiator.

I personally do not think it is worth the money, I would recommend going with a aftermarket OE radiator. I recently replaced my radiator (cracked upper tank) with a radiator from http://www.radiators.com for $157. It also has a lifetime warranty.

BSQ - was that radiators.com unit an all aluminum one?

What causes the plastic to crack?

Incorrect coolant?

The radiator that I purchased from radiators.com was not aluminum, I believe that it has a copper core with plastic upper and lower caps. The radiator weighs only slightly more than the stock radiator. FYI, When I ordered the radiator the sales person stated that it was aluminum. I have been using the radiator for the last 1.5 months and it has performed just like the stock radiator (ie. same coolant temperature reading).

The reason that the upper plastic tank cracks is AGE. My car is nearly 8 years old now and after that much time and all the heating and cooling cycles that the radiator has gone through the plastic upper tank begins to become weak. I talked to several people (2 Acura dealerships, A&H Motorsports, and a couple of radiator places) and they all said that this is a very common problem with radiators that have plastic tanks. I'm not sure if you have noticed, but there has been a lot discussion lately (last 3-6 months) about cracked or leaking radiators.

FYI, here are the prices that I found when looking for a radiator.

Acura dealership - OEM replacement $443

A&H Motorsports - OEM replacement $361 / aftermarket $245

Autozone - aftermarket $180

Fluidyne aluminum - $360 - $400 for radiator + new radiator fans
http://www.radiators.com - OE aftermarket $157 with lifetime warranty
