Default spoon n1 exhuast drowning?

i just recently picked up a spoon n1 axle back ...i noticed it is really loud in the cabin around 2500rpm and 4000rpm. the exhuast drowns throughout the whole cabin which sometimes hurts my ears..and i have other loud cars; mustangs that set off alarms..but this is different. at high rpm's (5k-8k) sounds perfect..not too loud at all....but at the low range...ITS LOUD! does anyone else with a spoon n1 experience this???

btw heres my set up:
-hondata 4
-hondata img
-aem cai
-jr race header
-carsound cat
-stock b-pipe

How do you like the n-1? I am thinking about buying that and getting custom piping to a high flow cat to a comptech header. How loud is it? Is it annoying or sound really lame?

it sounds great...dont get me wrong....one of the best sounding exhuasts i've heard...i previously had a apexi n1; to compare the two..i like how the spoon sounds alot better...the only complaint i have is how loud it sounds at 2500-4000rpm in the cabin (not outside) my guess is due to the race header....i bet it will get louder when i buy my T1R b-pipe.
if u were wondering no mine didnt come with a silencer; i bought mine used off a friend.

You're right Sleeper, the Spoon N1 is LOUD, race not rice, loud. There is a definate cabin boom/resonance at 2300-2600 in my case (K20A3). Mid pipe choice changes the volume but not the RPM of the resonance. I used my Spoon with the stock mid pipe, the Tanabe mid pipe and the Tanabe without a resonator, of course it got louder and louder. There is a definate gain with that muffler though. Compared to stock or my Hyper Medallion, I could feel the pedal get light from about 2500 RPM and pull strong to 6000 RPM. Unfortunately 2300 RPM is just about 60 MPH in 5th (SportShift) which is my usual freeway cruising speed. I love the performance, light weight and quality of the Spoon, **** if I could only get rid of that resonance.

Anybody have the same problem with any other N1? Any suggestions?

when you add that t1r b-pipe...it will be a lot louder. if you think it is loud now, wait until you add that pipe. i would say a magnitude of 5 times louder throught the entire rpm range and loudest in the range you mention 2500-4500. i just have the axleback and the b-pipe and mine is loud already.

i have the spoon n1 with custom midpipe and its freakin loud. Its great though but I agree it is rather loud at low rpms. Maybe you should bump up your system louder

Go to a muffler shop, have them add another, or a bigger resonator to your exhaust. That will help you out.

its sorta weird how i bought this exhuast about a week ago...and started complaining on how loud it was....this saturday (one week frm when i bought the exhuast) i got pulled over for it being to loud/modified. this sux. on friday the day before i got pulled over i was suppose to buy the spoon silencer...but decided not too cuz i got lazy. well i bought it today (sunday)..i wish i ended up buying it on friday.
its sorta funny...the cops didnt have dick *** attitudes like most of them do, but the cop and his partner were fighting over if my car was an acura or honda, since i have H emblem badges frnt and back. they had to finally ask me..and sorta laughed sayin i down graded my car frm an acura to honda. i just a laughed and signed the ticket.

lol.. Those cops are rocket scientists. My Skunk2 N1 catback is also loud; deep very bassy(sp?) but I got used to it. Sounds better IMO than my old APEXi N1. Sound is gonna pic up a bit with the T1R b-pipe. T1R b-pipe and Spoon N1 axleback is a very nice combination..

I use a DIY silencer, sorry to cite another forum but:

And yes it's ghetto but I get exactly the sound I want.

Get a silencer for it, It will get rid of the resonance in that RPM Range. The Exhaust Note will sound the same and be almsot as loud as it was but for some reason the silencer makes a change in the resonance.
