b16 in cali??
hey guys, i was wondering who has taken their swaped EF's to the smog ref to get legalized... what did you have to bring and what do they look for? how much did it cost? what is the whole process like?
thanks
thanks
why doesnt anybody do a propane conversion? my friend phil in texas has 3 kits that he loans out for people to pass smog. they consists of a propane bottle, a mount, lines, a regulator, a throttle bracket with a lot of adjustments and a proprtioning valve with different orfices. you hook it up to your car and roll through the smog station. you pass every time. he was able to get a 93 stang with a 460 big block to pass. it was nuts.
If i may assume, the 460 big block is not stock in a 93' stang. If you were to replace the enginein a car with a completely different engine, you would have to bring it to a smog referee. The referee has a book of allowed engines, And the jdm B16A is not on that list strictly because it is jdm. But basicly, it may pass the tail pipe check... but not the visual....
but why trust me? i don't know...

According to the smog ref I talked to it should pass even thought it's jdm. As long as it has all the smog stuff needed for the usdm del sol it should pass.
OmahaJim I'm 1billion% positive that the smog laws in California are tougher than the laws in Nebraska.

well droppedcrxsi answered your question allready on what parts you would need. the reason you need to go off a Del sol Vtec is because that motor is the most equivalent to a JDM b16a if you really did a search you would of found all these answers yourself.
