I've been looking at the gear ratios of our cars in comparison to the 98 spec JDM Type-R. It seems that although the JDM 98 has a lower final drive it gearing is not ideal in 4th and 5th. 1st-3rd is shorter than ours due to the same ratio's with a lower final drive, but the JDM 98 has a higher 4th and 5th which hurts it in the topend acceleration. So what I've conclude is that our U.S. spec R's,equipped with the JDM final drive, will yeild the fastest accleration due to the U.S. 4th and 5th. I'm I right in this assumption or not? Any input would be appreciated.
And why not run the GSR 5th, as it is taller (I believe) than the R's 5th, for less intense highway driving...who needs pulling power in 5th, really? Or for that matter, do you guys think we could replace our 5th with the S2000 6th gear? That would make for some killer gas mileage on the highways!

I vote for 4.9 fd tho...

Good point Black R, I'm thinking more along the lines of those who use their R's as daily drivers, not much into racing it on a track.
Hey Will, yeah, our best bet is to go to a junkyard, salvage some tranny parts from wrecked GSR's. This is a project for down the road though, not enough $ to do this anytime soon unfortunately.
