I want so badly to run in the SFWD class but Im like I cant even come close to going rounds when I may have to line up with a guy that is running in the 9's!!! I think and this is just me that there should be something done to get the competition more even. I mean if I was those guys I would get tired of straight up killing all the competition all the time. Hey but that is just me.
This is insane that SFWD is going 9.50. I give props to jason for doing it. I cant even imagine running against these guys. Good luck to Jason and Brian

The fast HR cars are low 8's...( 8.1_ i think)
Pro fwd is 7.9
This class is turning into the way HR was a few years ago.
Watch in a couple of years the SFWD guys will be going low 8's just as is HR.

PRO SFWD????
SO with these guys running consistant 9's ( which is awsome!!!) why would anyone with a mid-high 10 sec car want to compete with those guys.

lol..this is the 2nd season of SFWD and thier still only getting 1/2 dozen car fields, not even close to the intended 16 car field. If that keeps up in a couple years SFWD will be gone.If this was a DOT radial class from day one by this year they would've had no trouble at all getting 16.

come on it's not like you're competing with gm corporate dollars. they are grassroots just like you. how bout instead of bitching, build a car and try to redraw the line of what's possible for yourself. better yet just bring your car and race in the first place. so what, if there's someone else faster than you. all the people who bitch seem to be just a bunch of internet racers. personally, i have a lot more faith in myself. if someone else can do it... that means you can too. or atleast you can have fun trying.
lets face it... regardless, people are gonna be fast... slicks or drag radials... the fastest so far is 11.0 something... that's just about as difficult to do as a 9 sec pass on slicks.

sfwd is bracket right? if I am right...who cares whose fast or not....bracket doesnt matter if your running 10 sec ET's or 18 sec ET's....Heck in 2002 I knocked out alot of 10-11 second cars at a sport compact event when I owned a ford probe that ran consistant 18.4 et's...but if I am wrong...ignore this LOL

yeh this is pretty gay. some people are actually getting upset here.. Jason just has a good combination, and a car that is dialed in(track tuned) and well driven.. thats the problem w/ most the sport fwd guys, they aren't dialed in.
Congrats to both Jason and Brian...

Its kinda silly that NHRA creates a class that I KNEW when it was annouced that was basically Hot Rod cars without wheelie bars and I knew it wouldn't be long before these cars start running time that Hot Rod cars USED to run in 1999-2000.
With Jason running 9.8's constantly now, its more true than it ever was before.
Personally I have nothing against Jason, Brian or Mike Patrick for building cars TOO THE LETTER OF THE RULES.
NHRA just needed to do a better job have desiging rules.
If they really wanted to creat a class between brackets and Hot Rod, it truely is now.
But that also means they need to go back and create another class the rest of us can run.
They should have kept it to DOT radials, true, they should have limit turbo size, true. There should be a higher min weight, making the CRX too light to be used. I believe that's why Jason built the Civic coupe to start with, because he didn't want to be a victim of his own sucess. You will for sure get the min weight moved up, effectively forcing CRX's from the class.
The only way to compete with a car that light is to use a Festiva, Sprint/Metro or Hyundai Accent/Excel. There aren't any other cars as lightweight.
You could get a an Elantra 2.0L Beta in the Accent with little trouble and that could be an answer to the CRX's in this class and other classes with simular rules. The Festiva and Metro would be dangerous with very short wheelbases and that much power. Problem is, the biggest engine you could hope to get into a Festiva is Mazda's BP 1.6L DOHC from the Mercury Capri XR2 turbo. Metro's could use Suzuki's 1.3L DOHC engine from the Swift GT hatchback or use that car as a base, but I haven't seen one run faster than mid 12s turbocharged.
Anyway....
So the Hondas with the CRX have an unfair advantage. By increasing the min weight to say 2400lbs would pretty much make everybody even. Civic coupes come in around 2400lbs, but you can't remove any interior parts, they may be heavier than that. Focus, Neons and J-bodies are all around 2500-2600lbs. Honda Civic Hatches would still have an weight advantage of about 100lbs, but that's better than 200-300lbs most CRX's have on us.
I agree whiners should just build a car competitive enough. But only if you could afford it. That's at least $10,000 spent and that doesn't account for engine failures, driveline breakage or just plain wrecking the car.

First of all, congrats to all of those guys out there competing in SFWD!
You guys have to understand that anything can go wrong out there and just by showing up you could still win....even if you are running high 10's, etc. against a 9 sec car.
They are going to have to do something like raise the weight limit.... That IS why Jason and Charlie built the coupe.... It sucks that you guys feel like you can't compete and that a 16 car field isn't having the turnout it did 2 years ago.
Meanwhile though, good luck to all of you racers who go out there and run numbers! Kick some ***!
