Default Ferrea Valvetrain

Wassup guys, well yesterday i discovered i have a few bent exhaust valves

I'm going to be rebuilding the whole head with 1mm oversized ferrea valves, ferrea springs, and ferrea retainers. The bottom end will be run with stock gsr pistons and rods. Now my question is, how big of a cam can i run with the ferrea head, and how high would i be able to rev the motor on a stock bottom end and built head?

I'm still debating on which valvetrain products to use so i'm open to any comments or opinions or if anybody has had any experiences with ferrea or could recommend anything that i may benefit better from.

Thanks Guys, John

Being that you'll still be at stock compression, I can't recommend going to a huge cam. I'd think that the biggest cam you'll see any gains from would be something along the lines of Toda A's, if not CTR's.

so i'd have to bump up the compression before i could go to a larger cam, ex: skunk 2 stage 2 or even toda b's ?

how high can i rev safely with the stock bottom end? i was also thinking about going with ctr pistons or even je's

my research says that for a stock bottom end, you can do 8000 all day long or 8500-8700 if you wanna push it. if you swap out the rod bolts for ARP's, you can do 8500 all day long or 9000-9200 if you wanna push it. of course there's gonna be a lot of other opinions on how hard you can push a stock bottom end, but this should give you a good starting point.

like stated above i would stay with the standard size valves, the ferrea valvetrain is great and you will have no worries with it at far as rpm...as far as the bottom end goes stock rods and rod bolts i believe are good till about 9000-9100...
i have pushed them there on daily driven cars alot and have numerous amounts of customers who beat the **** out of there cars with stock rod bolts and have yet to have one break under those circumstances. just dont miss shifts and you will be ok.

as far as the cams go i would recommend a set of jun 2's. these cams work great. and have seen them produce #'s on even stock bottom end. while the head is off go ahead and put a 2 layer headgasket so that you can gain a little more compression out of the thing....oh yeah and as far as the valves get yourself a set of flat-faced valves they are good for a little more compression also since your changing the valves already...

the really important thing that alot of people dont understand is that a valve job is key to making good power, make sure yo bring your head to a really good machine shop for the valve job.

i noticed your in NY and if you need anything, machine work , i mean anything let me know.........good luck with your setup ........Miller
