Default Any D series warriors here?

Need some inspiration onto the my current D16a buildup. Just ordered a set of p29's to freshened up the short block and some input on further mods would be helpful and appreciated.

no dyno or slips yet, having slight idle issues right now, but soon. mods in sig seem to be good on the butt dyno. Check with Exospeed they love the D-series. I'm going to be doing the p29 thing soon too hopefully, can you pm me with where you got yours? Thanks. Good luck.

I've found that the drivetrain is extremely important when dealing with the D series. Find a lightweight flywheel and good clutch, and then get the shortest gear ratio's possible.

What's the shortest gear combo available for the d series anyhow?

I not exactly sure, but I do know that there is an aftermarket 4.9 final drive for d series tranny's. I would think that the 4.9 in an EX tranny would be about as short as they come.

I didn't have to, but I wanted to bump the compression. The Y7 head and the Y8 head gasket raises compression to 10.1:1. Then I milled the head .05 inch to raise compressionit to 10.6:1 +/-

im sorry now i know youre wrong. .05 inches will raise your compression by like 15-20 ponts not just 5. you do mean 5 thousanths

Wait 0.05inch is 1.27mm. Ive run a 2mm headgasket (stock is 0.89mm) so thats 1.1mm larger. It gives you like 0.4:1 lower in compression. So by cutting 0.05inch (1.27mm) id imagine it would raise your compression by about 1/2 a point.

Right?

zc 3,4,5 gearsets in a DX tranny with a quaife, srr 4.9 final, and light flywheel will rip. that's the ticket to speed for the D

no.

for clarification 1 point is 0.1 (i.e. 10.1:1, add one point is 10.2:1)

.05 is just a ton to mill, plus it decreases the quench area and CC volume. raising compression even more.

I'm milled .040 and have no problems, don't think that extra .010 makes such a problem. I've heard of people doing .100 before which I've been told is the max for hondas.

Ok my bad on the 1point i ment one full point 1 not .1. Never the less I think your wrong about the 0.05 being alot to mill. You will decrease the quench area a little but not enough to really cause a huge increase in compression.

uh, what ecu you running with that z6 cam in the y7 head and what block? stock rev limit is like 7200 and fuel cuts at 7500.... of course, could just be an issue of the stock tac being so innacurate...

Get rid of the a6 head and get yourself a z6 head and a Crower 2 cam. The type of profile you will need to make alot of power with that non-vtec head will really kill your drivability. That said, the vtec head obviously gives you the luxury of the 2 diff. spec profiles for a really broad seamless powerband. Portmatch the head to a y8 intake manifold and possibly a 62mm TB, and get a true vtec ecu to run the thing, such as the p28.

Keep the A6 head, weld the combustion chambers, have some nice headwork (exospeed race package with cam) and be on your way. Yes you will probably sacrafice drivablility given the profile of the cam. Modify your ecu, some nice headers, and you will be having fun. And for those who wanna get a little more crazy, go with the dual side draft carb set up like me And forget about all that fuel management crap Good luck and have fun.
