For those of you who had a shop install the Fd, how much did you pay? Or, what is the typical price for labor for this type of install?

 

About $350-$400 Canadian is the average price i believe, so about $230-$260 U.S dollars for the labour only

 

does that include dropping the tranny? or is that not needed to install the final drive?

 

Yes that includes dropping the tranny, and opening it up to change the final drive gear, others on the board that are in the U.S claim it's about $300-$350 u.s dollars to install.. i'm in Canada and it's about $400 here for the install out the door, but it varies from shop to shop, you know how it is.

 

so how much might it be if I was installing a clutch at the same time?

 

installing a clutch shouldn't cost that much more since you the labour you are paying is bascially to have the tranny taken down, a clutch and flywheel is easy to install once the tranny is out.

 

it really depends on the labor rates, but at about $50 an hour if it pays 6 hours to drop the tranny and split the case you are looking at about $300. that is assuming the shop you go to goes by the typical shop prices and not a price per job type thing. it all really depends on your area.
