installing clutch cable
my clutch cable snapped last week, so its time to install a new one. the last time i tried installing it myself, i had trouble fitting the one end onto the control arm. i could use some suggestions or advice, i remember reading people installing these without a problem.

I just removed mine the other day.
First thing, route it from the engine bay though the firewall and get that hooked up to the pedal, it just kinda clips in.
Next route it to the area where its gonna hook up, it was over the intake manifold for me, then down to the tranny. Then on the cable there should be like a threaded adjusted, back it off ALL the way. Then slip the cable onto the arm, and tighten up the adjusted JUST untill you feel tension, no more no less.
This is on a B series cable tranny in a Crx

i just got it in...thanks for the reply. i think what happened last time is that i bought the wrong cable, probably the one for the wagon/4wd because my clutch was soooo tight before.
now i seem to be running into the problem of adjustment...it seems if i adjust the cable too tight, the clutch pedal is stiff as hell, but will engage. this kind of pressure will probably be too much for the cable and make it snap within a few months (like my previous one did). on the other end, if the adjustment is too loose, the clutch pedal is soft (like it should be), but will only engage if i smash it all the way to the floor. in this case its hard to shift, but will only grind for reverse. there isnt even a full turn on the clutch cable adjustment so i was thinking there is a possibility of a bigger problem..perhaps the clutch itself is dying? the small "weight" thats bolted onto the clutch control arm actually fell off my car a while back, but i didnt think it would affect my clutch that much...any opinions?

stock d16 with oem replacement cable from autozone
its not the installation im having problems with, its the actual adjustment. i have a feeling that the missing piece that bolts onto the clutch control arm might be cause of this problem. does anyone know what part im referring to? i dont know the exact name...

A honda oem part is a way better unit (less chance of breakage). Do you know how to properly adjust it? That may be your problem. Grab the arm, and shake it up and down. Give it like a 1/8 inch of free movement. Ryan
EDIT, adjust by turning the nut.
