Default Tuning with Cam Gear and CTR cams.

okay heres the setup, B16 stock block, skunk 2 manifold, CTR cams, DC 4-2-1 headers. I just want to ask something. With CTR cams and cam gears, isnt there a known setting you can set and know for SURE that you will get power without getting on the dyno. You get what im saying? LIke adjust +/- 1 degree on the intake/exhaust cam and gain power. I just want a little more power than what ill get at 0,0 but not too extreme.

ANyone got any good settings that worked for you that arent too extreme, but give a little more power? with this similar setup of course.

Of the three SiRs I've seen with bolt-ons and CTR cams, +3/+4 on the intake side, and -1 on the exhaust side have in all three cases yielded gains compared to 0/0. Naturally this is not to say that this is guaranteed to have positive effects on your car, but its what I can offer you. Naturally, any and all simple cam gear tweaking should always be done on a dyno.

so whats the trick? increase intake side and decrease exhaust? you know what i mean. What about a setting like.... +2 intake, and leave exhaust at 0. or just +1 intake 0 exhaust. Just thinkin **** up. thanks.

Why does it seem that everyone is constantly looking for any and all ways to avoid a proper trip to the dyno? It's one thing when people honestly aren't aware that dyno tuning is the correct way to go about things, but much more perplexing and frustrating when people preface their posts with "I know dyno tuning is the best way, but...(insert poor excuse here)." Why spend hundreds (in some cases thousands) on the physical parts of a motor, then refuse to spend a relatively small amount more for proper tuning?

i've seen the same settings on many ctr cam setups, but yeah take it to the dyno to make sure

You wanna know why? Because 6 months later im going to spend $300 on tuning when i go turbo. Thats when ill go to the dyno. Im just throwing these things in, and want to make minor adjustments for a little power with some known adjustments. So is it safe to say advance 2* int and leave ex at 0? or 2*/-1.
