Ok, I'll ask. What is "stretching rod bolts"? Are you saying you are overtorquing them? Wouldn't that weaken the bolt?

you can tighten rod bolts in two ways...
1) torque spec.
2) stretch or their "change in length"

be patient and someone who knows will answer you Q.
you cant expect the experienced engine builder to peruse honda-tech all day like I do....
Also, did you search the archives?

We torque rod botls to spec...loosen them and retorque them..usually 2-3times to compensate for rod bolts stretch...we do this with a few parts of the engine...mains,head etc..

The appropriate thing to do is to torque to bolts to the same torque that they were honed at, provided that they were properly torqued when honed.

ARP rod bolt application
ARP rod bolt stretch and torque specs

both are pdf files...

stretching the bolts is a more accurate way to do it.... a specified amount of torque will stretch the bolts different amounts depending on if you use antiseize, oil, wd-40 etc...friction plays a part in torque measurements.

you can stretch the bolts with your hands, not enough to see, but a measureable amount. when you tighten the bolts they stretch...if you stretch them beyond the yeild point they are permanently deformed or otherwise know as garbage.

as with any engineered product there is a saftey factor put into the product for error and because people have different ways of doing things. otherwise, people would say the product is garbage...
