Terrible noise when turning...busted LCA?
Okay...so about a week ago I was driving in this wonderful city of crappy roads...when I hit a manhole cover (sticking up a good 4 inches at least, construction area)...hard. The rear right side hit to be exact. And it wasn't the sound of bottoming out my suspension either. It was instead, a terrible thump on something metal. My guess would be the LCA.
This is where it gets weird...everytime time I make a semi-hard left turn (as in, 15 mph or higher)...I get a terrible noise coming from that area.
These are ITR lca's by the way...is it possible that they're warped slightly and causing this to happen? Sound familiar to anyone...it's bad.
Thanks in advance...

I would also guess the LCA. The trailing arm is pretty hard to bend. You can try to duplicate the noise in the garage by jacking the rear right wheel up and see if the suspension arms are touching each other.

I doubt it's the trailing arm as well. That's a pretty beefy piece.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Actually I meant put the whole rear up on jack stands, then use a jack to jack up the wheel to simulate the wheel bump movement. Have someone else do the jacking (Chris N would love to do that for you  ) and you could inspect the wheel movement. You should be able to locate the problem this way.

Do you have an oversized rear-sway? You may want to check out your rear sub-frame becuase you may have torn it. It is not uncommon for this to occur; happened to my buddy.
Goodluck with your car ... I hope all will be fixed.

Oversized rear sway...yes...but it's not on the car at this moment. The subframe is fine actually.
CV joint...possibility. I'll jack it up, as Wai suggested, asap. Thanks for all the suggestions though...I'll keep you guys posted.

bad wheel bearing...I've had a few people point this out to me the past couple of days. I haven't been able to jack it up as I'd like (no jackstands, only jack right now). However, I did do a visual inspection (even took pictures)...but everything looked pretty normal at the time.
The sound it makes is similar to the sound of driving on a rumble strip on the highway maybe....sort of a "roar roar roar" maybe.

whoa...totally back from the dead...
The answer...uhh...not sure.
It looks like the rear trailing arm bushing is majorly worn. So, I'm changing that in the next week or two. After that, I'll see if that helps.

Hehe...well...I had some more "serious" concerns pop up w/the car bwt. then and now (cracked engine block for example).

CV joint on the rear....?????? I'd get under the car and inspect the lower suspension, if as you said you hit a manhole cover (which are made of cast iron) then its going to have left a mark on something so should be easy enough to spot where it actually hit
Edit: just seen date of the original post....so what was it?

Haha...well, CV joint in front...driver's side is bad, so yes...but that's remedied.
As for what the problem was...it was never really fixed entirely because I had MANY more expensive problems arise bwt. then and now...ugh. The rear trailing arm bushings are shot right now, so I need to replace those before I track it again. I did track it last year, and it would make the noise in many turns, so I know it's a major problem.
I guess...for the sake of the thread, I'll keep everyone posted. Team Lazy in effect...or something. Or more like, Team "too many things keep popping up" in effect...haha.
