Tranny removal problems driving me nuts!
I'm doing a new clutch, flywheel install and currently have some tranny removal problems. I alread removed all 5 bolts from the top of the tranny, rear tranny mount bracket with the three bolts including the extra single bolt that bolts the tranny to the engine and the misc bolts on the bottom clutch cover. Still the tranny wont budge from the engine. No matter how hard I tug and pull the tranny just wont come off. I managed to sqeeze a flathead screwdriver between the tranny and engine and pounded the sucker in but still the tranny wont come off the engine. I checked and rechecked for any bolts that I forgot but I got'em all. Anybody got any suggestions?
i had the same problem, u didnt mention taking the starter off, i sat there with big *** pry bar and a sledge hammer(it was a broke tranny i was replacing). so take the starter off, i dont remember if all the bolts go thru the tranny into the engine, but i know atleast one does
yes make sure that u have the starter off first and also check for the ground wire on the tran side and make sure its also disconnected.. most of the time its just the metal is seized together so just try hitting it with a hammer were the trans bolts up to the block (((rubber hammer would be the best))) than try to pry it open
Yep I never took of the starter! I kept looking at it though and wondered if I needed to take it off. I took off one off the starter mount bolts but it looks small and doesn't look like it actually bolts into engine block, oh well I'll probably take the whole starter out anyhow and see how it goes. Got damn, I hope that solves my problem, I spent all day screamin, cussing and bleeding! Hahaha. Thanks for the help guys.
