Default .....I searched....headlight removal question.....

Ok, this may be really idiotic.....but I'm just making sure I'm not missing something. Was going to throw some city lights in my 95' coupe.....Do I have to remove the bumper to pull the headlights? If not there any trick to it?

also, off-topic, but a "EG" "EK" etc.......my coupe would be an EK right? Is that the JDM designation for a coupe or what? Never read what means what anywhere...........

TIA

Just a little but youll never know unless you ask right?

I dont need to take my bumper off but thats because i set it up so i dont have to. But usually you just need to take off like 2 screws and pull it back a little. Also by the 2 screws for the bumper is a bolt you have to take off. Then the 2 on the top.

No you have a EJ if you want to be specific. And a EJ1 is a USDM Civic Coupe EX and a EJ2 is the same but a DX. "EK" is 96-00 civic hatches. Also a EG is really a EH in america, EG is JDM.

Hey Luser, you don't have any 5th gen on that list. An easy way to determine your chassis code is look at the 4th-6th digits of your VIN. I drive an EJ2 - 94 DX coupe with a d15b7 engine.

Yes you need to remove the front bumper, which is not hard at all.

Remove the phillips screws on the bumper where the hood closes.

Remove the two screws (or bolts) from each side where the bumper meets the fenders

Remove the 10mm bolts on the bottom side of the bumper

Pull the bumper cover off.

Then remove the 10mm bolts (4 I think?) that hold the little metal headlight stays to the bumper bar.

Then remove the 10mm bolts that hold the actual headlight housings in.

Done.

Just give it some more time. You'll see some dicks here too.

Seriously though, we all appreciate someone who searches before posting a topic or a question.

If you need anything else just search, and if you can't find it post a new topic and make sure you add "already searched" so the lamer "do a search!" people don't dogpile on you.

And if you ever have any issues with anyone herem let me know - I'll help out in any way possible seeing as how I moderate this forum (we have two others too.)

you don't need to take your bumper off loosen the two screw that hold the front of your fender on and when you pull your lights out just lift the front of the fender up a little bit and there you have it headlight out. i put projectors on my 93 4 door civic i know it can be a pain in the ****

Anyhow, thanks.

Yes, do give it some more time before passing final judgment. You've been lucky so far.
