What ever block you use, use that head gasket, and what ever oil pump you use, use that timing belt

Don't you mean water pump? the oil pump is driven by the crankshaft.

Dumb question now,
So a B18 block will fit directly to a B16 head without any mods and with the normal B series gasket, is that it?

b18C will fit with b16 head without any modification, b18a or b will need oil line for the Vtec, hence the Ls/Vtec.
Thanks.
I have a B16A2 and wanted to upgrade the displacement to 1800cc. Best solution would be to get a B18C5 block, which I can get from Honda here in Portugal.
Thing that is worring me is if the block comes with an engine code and number. This way police would hassle me
. I have seen engine blocks that have no code or number on them, which is ok and police won´t give you any trouble, you´ll just say you blew up your old engine and that you fitted the same type of new engine.

I didn´t understand this part.. but I guess it doesn´t have nothing to do with the mods I´m thinking off.
