Default polydyne and calico bearing coatings, anyone using them

I am rebuilding my motor, to go turbo this time, and I was considering running the coated bearings, A local machine shop swears by them, and I heard of some circle track racers using them, but is there anyone who has had a good or bad experience with them. The claim is the coating is a pourus lubricant that will hold oil in the pours. In a case of oil starvation, it will hold a bit of oil in the coating to buy you some time. I called polydine, and the said it would be $50 for the rods and mains with about a 2 day turnaround. Sounds pretty cheap for a little spun rod bearing insurance.
