why do you need 10w50? 5w30 or 10w30 are the recommended oil weights.

Echo.

Yes I'd only run 5W30 or at most 10W30.

Are you burning oil or have some valve tap? Is that why you want to run a heavy weight oil?

I would run what the other guys said unless there is a reason you need to run a heavy oil.

i have a slight wrist pin knock, and my mechanic told me to just keep driving it and that it'll probably last a couple more years, but he did recommend i use a heavier oil, especially in the summer time (it get's hot in maryland).

easy way to make the car last a little longer....

I need to run some thicker oil in my 91 4 door....valve stem seals are bad and I'm too lazy to fix it

Since the engine is on its way out anyway, a thicker oil probably can't hurt. I think I'd go with something like a 10W-40, and throw in an additive like Rislone "Ring Seal", which is intended for engines with worn parts.

I use 10w40 all the time and never had problems... and the previous owner was using the sam oil from day 1st he bought the car... and the manual says 10w40 or 5w30

go with 10w40 and 10w50 can't hurt either...
