Any ideas here:

Default Any ideas here:

I know this might sound incredibly gay.... but some things concern people such as myself.

The other night I was leaving work and i just felt like ripping it down a little back road 1st to second.

Now generaly i will rip second gear, loosing a good amount of traction (chirping) and what not.

Now as I slamed second (or maybe my shift sucked... i doubt it tho) I dont really think i heard anything, I also cant really remember if i felt loss of traction.. Now im also fimiliar w/ some peoples comments that "hey man thats a good thing, you kept traction", but im just used to ripping second. and a little chirp in third.

The setup is an h22 (1994 jdm spec) in an EG hatchback.. Bone stock h22.
Tires: nitto 450 extreme (195/50/15)

Also right now, I cant get my car to go into reverse... This is a different topic here.. and Im not sure whats up w/ that... The place i bought the motor from said that i needed a different tranny fluid (gm synchomesh) so im going to do that soon...

But any ideas... on the 1st to second w/ out ne noise... I know this sounds childish but i also know that you all can hear it when you rip thru a gear.. My car also might be a little to loud to hear it possibly but i also dont think so...

First of all nobody should say you need GM Synchromesh for a Honda tranny.

Sure it has worked wonders for others, but it is in no way a REQUIREMENT for honda trannies.

It sounds to me like someone doesn't want to warranty a tranny, so they lay the blame on you by saying you've got the wrong fluid. a properly functioning Honda tranny should shift fine using fluids specified by honda - none of which is GM Synchromesh.

Honda specifies that you use either 10W30 engine oil, or their Honda Maunal Transmission fluid depending on the year and model of car/tranny.

Secondly your lack of hearing a "chirp" or what not might have been due to some clutch slippage.

BTW:

How long have you had this swap?

Did it not ever go into reverse?

you probably just missed the shift that time. Sometimes I can chirp 4th, but not all the time.

as far as the tranny fluid goes, the synchromesh is good for synchros that are starting to go, and its only a temporary fix. Im currently using it and it has temporarily "fixed" my 1st and 3rd gear grind. I think think reverse has a synchro so it wouldnt even make a difference. Just sounds like a tranny problem and different fluid is not gonna be able to fix it.
