Bore my C1??
Did a search on increasing the displacement and came across a couple 84.5 mm bore overs. I wanna increase my displacement, how far is safe? How much money? What gains are expected? Reliable? Strictly street driven...
on a stock block u shouldnt go any higher than 82mm. any higher and u can easily run into block cracking issues. if u r going to go to a 84.5mm bore. then u should sleave it.
Depends on how much money you have. Biggest possible bore on stock sleeves is 82mm. If you are a baller, sleeve that biotch and go 84/85/86mm. You can also pick up a little more displacement by slapping an LS crank in there (you would need LS rods too). You go from an 87.2mm stroke to an 89mm stroke.
Cool thanks everyone, forgot this topic sorry I didn't reply.... Ok, how much to bore to 84.5 and resleeve? I'm make pretty good money for my age so I can probably afford it. How much torque and hp would I gain? Any problems I could run into? How about pistons, I wanna stay all motor BTW. What is my stock bore? What would my final displacement be? Is it worth it????
Personally,Id do what the other dude said,go .25 over and put an LS crank in it(rods too). I used to have that set-up and went to the set-up that you want to build,And I feel that the smaller engine had more usable power,I'll get smoked on now cuz my car just spins 1-3.Cool for the track though!

You would gain about 10-20 ft.-lbs. of torque and 20-40 hp depending on how you went about it. Lots of choices as far as pistons go, custom and off-the-shelf. Stock bore is 81mm. If you go 84mm your displacement is 1932 cc, 85mm bore is 1979 cc. Sleeving runs from ~$700 to ~$950. Worth it? Hell yes

Cool, your da **** man... but wouldn't I need bigger pistons for this?? I probably would wanna stick to OEM and go type R. How much could I sell my gsr pistons fer? Can I sell the sleeves?

If you sleeve, forget about OEM pistons. If you want to stick with the stock sleeves, OEM pistons are good stuff. You could bore the engine to 81.25mm and go with OEM ITR or CTR oversize pistons and rings. I just had my stock ITR block bored to 81.5 mm and am going to install some Toda pistons. GSR pistons are not worth much, and the stock sleeves are cut out and discarded when a block is sleeved, so you can't really recoup any money there.
