225/50/15 on R
On my teg, I wonder if 1/4 inches spacer at the back will clear all the rubbing on the control arm, and do I need spacers at the front? I dont' care if it rubs at full lock. I just want to make sure before I get the tires because I can't return them once i tried them on.
BTW, I am using RA1 and Khumho.
thanks

Try a search. I don't know about ITRs (it hs been posted here in the past) but on a GSR to run 225s you need to move the rear wheel out at least 8mm (it'l still just kiss the lca), and the front will rub the inner fender only at full lock with 8mm.
Depends...you on stock suspension? 225's up front will rub a little at full lock and you will need spacers to run them in the back, but a lot of R people use the 225/205 combo so this isn't a problem for them.
Also, are you autoxing or running track events? I don't know if I'd want to run the 225/50 at a track event or not because rubbing at 110mph is not exciting.

I race at a road course, I have been using 205/50/15, but I know it's worthy upgrade to 225/50/15. My car is stock and I am running Khumho or RA1, so I guess I will need a 10mm spacer at the front and at the back to clear all the issues... If someone can confirm that with me, greatly appreciate it..
I tried the search but didn't find anything I want
thanks

I ran 225/50 R15 Toyo RA1's on 15x7 Kosei K1's with stock setup. I had rubbing on full lock at the front and rubbing on the rear wheel well on bottom out. I rolled my rear fenders slightly and since i had no problems. Depending on the road course, you should not get any rubbing with this setup except the front a little at the hairpin leading to the backstraight at shannonville. I installed spacers on the front only and had no problems. Not sure size of spacers. B18C5 should have that info. Mosport should not be any problems, dunno about Cayuga. Hope this helps.
A former local ITR autocrosser ran 5mm spacers with 225/50/15 V700s all around on stock rims with no rubbing issues in back. I don't remember if she said there was a little rubbing at full lock in front.
The ITR's spacer needs are different from the GSR, because it's got different hubs and uses 42 or 43mm (dont' remember which) offset wheels instead of 45mm.
Not sure what to tell you about the RA1.

Your fine if:
1) You run stock suspension
2) You run 5mm spacers in the back
3) You don't mind a little rubbing at full lock in the front
4) You don't mind a little rubbing on the outside rear wheel wells under very hard cornering
5) You use Kumhos (Hoosier 225s are about 0.9 inches wider than 225 Kumhos and might rub the rear LCAs - they are fine in the front)

What if I want to fit a set of (225 50 16) tires and 16" wheels combo on the car can I do that by raising the suspension with a set of coilover a bit and a spacer in the rear...?
Did you say which wheel you're using? You'll only really need spacers if you're using stock wheels. I've used 225 Toyos on generic 38mm offset 15x7 wheels, I've used ITRRACER's 225 Toyos on 45mm 15x7 Kosei K1s with no spacers, and I've used 225 Kumhos on the same size Koseis.
Regardless of wheel or tire I've rubbed on the inside front at full lock. Not a big deal if you don't mind the noise or glazing on the tire. I really bent back my rear lip to make the 225s fit with the 38mm offset. It was semi-tolerable with the stock suspension, but completely unbearable lowered. The 45mm offset K1s helped a lot and I haven't rubbed since.
If you're going with the stock wheels you'll definitely want a 5mm spacer for the rear, since I'm already rubbing on the trailing arm slightly (but only while turning). That would make things about perfect. The front I'm not so sure about. I think you can get away with it with or without a spacer, but there's no harm in using one there too.

REally good review B18C5
I am using mazda millenia rims right now, which is +50 offset. I guess, if I put
a 5mm spacers on all four hubs, I will only rub at full lock at the front and maybe a little rub at the back when real hard cornering. However, I think it's well worth it for using 225 over 205. You think 15x6 will be too narrow to put 225?
thanks
