Default What damage can blowing your headgasket do?

Well i'm just contemplating my upcoming SOHC setup,

one of the parts I plan on doing to squeeze as much power out of it
as I can, for a small ammount of bread, is a thinner headgasket,
i'm hoping that, that, combined with a nice cam(which should enjoy the higher comp) will produce nice results.

Now I know the thinner gasket can only do so much so I want to go as thin as possible, like a y8 trimmed down to 1layer.

SO i'm a bit worried about the gasket not holding up,
what could happen if it blows, aside from having to swap in a new one?

thanks

a blown head gasket can leak coolant into your crankcase. when that **** gets on the bearings. it doesnt allow them to stay lubricated. so they get screwed up.

Can warp the head surface and the block surface, creating future leaks. Honestly, avoiding a blown HG is the best option. Having to put a new one is would be the least possible damage caused.

i've heard both good and bad about cometic gaskets. +0.3 in cr won't even do too much for you.
i maintain that if you want to bump compression, do so with pistons.
could you be more specific about your engine please?

well i'm thinking a jdm d15b vtec

dont even have the thing tho! still got my cx haha,
soon tho

but yeah you're probably right,
which is why I asked first of course.

I dont want to mill the head though, because I might go turbo later on

maybe i'll just try'n keep it simple,
stay low comp, throw a cam, boltons ,and leave it at that. should still be pretty fun.
I'm definetely down for the sohc feel.
