Seat Belts buckles
My dad has seats from a new si in his 02 civic coupe. When I put them in, the sensor plug that was plugged into the stock seat plugged into the new one, but the SRS light has been on ever since. I searched and found that the dealer can reset the SRS light, and that it always comes on when you unplug/replug the sensor. Now he is trying to sell the car, and he took it to the dealer.
The dealership claims that the seats were from a car that was in an accident, and that the srs light is on because the seat belt buckles "know" that the car was wrecked and the airbag discharged. He says we need new buckles - at $150 each!
Let me clarify - the service guy does not claim that the buckles are damaged in any way - simply that they "know" that they have been in a wreck. Is this right or is he scamming us? Sounds like bs to me. Thanks.

I don't know, seems like a scam to me. Any time the sensors become disconnected, the SRS memory thinks that the airbags have been deployed. $150.00 each is a lot to be spending on some buckles. There is a way of resetting the SRS memory but I don't know if it's the same way to do it on the EM2's as the way to do it on Si's/RSX's.
simply guessing here but when the airbags blow i thought that the "srs" computer needs to be replaced and not the "seat belt plugs'
i have dc5 itr seats in my 2002 si and i have the SRS light
just to lazy to reset it
here is the "how to"

Easy Fix
Every one who owns a honda should write this down somewhere
Cause: Cables underneath seats were disconnected, Srs fuse was removed, etc..
solution: This will definitely work since I fixed my myself.
1. Look underneath dash, near fusebox, for a 2-wire yellow plug, disconnect it and pull it down so you can work with it.
2. Turn ignition OFF
3. Jumper the 2 wires together (cut paperclip in half and straighten, insert one end of both halves into back end of plug where each wire goes in, touch them together and hold)
4. Turn ignition ON (SRS light will turn on for 6 seconds, then turn off).
5. Within 4 Seconds of SRS light turning off, unjumper the 2 wires (SRS light will turn ON)
6. Within 4 seconds of SRS light turning on, jumper the 2 wires (SRS light will turn OFF)
7. Within 4 seconds of SRS light turning off, unjumper the 2 wires (SRS light will blink ON and OFF, indicating SRS function is reset).
Good Luck

Its not everytime you disconnect the sensor the SRS light will come on, its when you disconnect it and you turn on the key to II position/Car on. Leaving an open circuit.
All you need to do is reset it, its very easy.
Use the instructions up above.

Keep in mind, Any time an air bag deploys in a vehicle.....You replace the air bag, the srs control unit, the buckles and seat belt webbing reels with retractors that were fastened when the bag deployed, on top of the regular body work and sensor that was hit,....I have seen SRS lights on before b/c of a buckle not being replaced after the air bag was deployed. The rest of the vehicle was repaired but they forgot about the buckles.
Good Luck though.
