My '94 EX auto is making a strange noise. During idle, and the very beginning of acceleration, the car makes a creaking metal on metal noise. It is high pitched and sounds kind of like worn out brakes but comes from the engine area even during idle. Any ideas?

 

Heatsheild rattle maybe?

 

has the car ever been in an accident?

 

is this idle in park or in gear and does it make the noise in the other senario

 

my 98 accord makes a sqealin noise from the distributor. sounds like sqealing from belts noise. took off rotor and put it backj n dispapeared for a lil but its back. evry hear of this?????

 

it makes the noise in park or in gear while still or when the car is accelerating to about 15 miles per hour

 

its hard to tell without hearing the noise but have you eliminated the posibility that it is the belts

 

Im thinking heatsheild rattle as well, I have a 94 and that was the problem with mine. Very common.

 

Yo Simatic, you better get that dizzy replaced-it's the bearings inside that's making all the noise!!! Very common problem!

 

A tsb was issued on the '94's for a rattle at 1800-2700 RPM's. I had it and took a few pipeclamps to it an no more noise. But I never had it at idle..IT is coming from the engine or from in front of the cat? If infont of the cat then probably heatsheild if in engine bay. I am not sure..
