Default LSVTEC vs. B20VTEC

I have a question is the lsVTEC swap more reliable than the B20VTEC.
If i was to do the lsVTEC what kind of head would i use a b16 or a b18?
Also what kind of valvetrain would i use and what kind of internals

the lsvtec is probably both easier and cheaper.

A very nice lsvtec setup can be pieced together using almost entirely OEM parts (with the exception of arp fasteners for the head and rods). Throw together LS rods, B16 pistons, and a VTEC head, and you're pretty much there. Because of the common 81mm bore, you have a choice of many OEM pistons to suit your compression goals.

The crvtec, because of the B20's larger bore, is more difficult to get good results out of. If you want any kind of decent compression ratio (stock, B20 has 8.8 or 9.6, both of which are pretty lame), you'll need to resort to aftermarket pistons, which will just precipitate more spending...

I, personally, am partial to the crvtec, just because of the increased displacement. If you're going all-out and sleeving, it doesn't matter which motor you chose, because the LS can be bored out to 84+mm anyway.

As for which head is best, that really up to you. The flow characteristics are a little different, but neither is really better than the other. But something to keep in mind is the b18c head has a smaller combustion chamber area, so it will yeild a slightly higher compression ratio than the B16 head would.

b20b if you got the cash but you have to realize your horse power goals. then you will know which motor will get you to your goals.

ie. (me) wanted 200-210 whp so i went b20

the sleeves on a b20 are weaker,

get a ls block, and resleeve to 84mm

An b20 is just a bore'd' out b20, cept with weaker sleeve's. There both reliable, you just have to make sure you build them properly. B20 is a little bit more power than the LsVtec but it depends on your power goals and how much cash you have sitting around to make a engine. I perfer the lsvtec just because I don't see a point in having a 2.0 with a little bit more power.

if I had some money to spend I would go gsr block and bore to 84mm with a ls crank/eagle rods.

but on a budget build stock vs. stock, I would go B20vtec and just baby that bitch
