Default Droning noise coming from tranny...

I dont currently have any shifting problems or other tranny issues, but when Im sometimes coasting in gear or very lightly on the throttle, I can hear a slight droning noise that Im positive is from the trans. If I increase the throttle some, it will quickly go away. It kinda feels like it does it when there is not much load on the trans parts, like theres some slack or play in there. And as soon as I touch the gas hard enough to take the slack out, it goes away. Its been doing it for awhile now so Im not too concerned. But Im wondering if it might be bearings getting worn, or maybe gears or something. Ive changed trans fluids a few times but that doesnt seem to make a difference.

I have a similar problem with the thanny too. It only makes nosies when i am in gear and coasting while off or light on the throttle.

Could it have anything to do with the clutch being worn out or loose?

Could be clutch I guess, mine is screwed up but its not worn out by any means, or maybe the lightweight flywheel "buzzing" or something.

maybe the dreaded input shaft bearing
i'll have to hear it myself

if you are coasting in gear, and then, push in the clutch, does it go away?

Yes for me. Its a churning noise that moves as fast as the car is revving and when I push in the clutch or move to neutral it stops.

Ill take you for a ride when I see ya for Korean BBQ

well if it is the input shaft bearing,
its best to fix it right away
as the damage may not be much now
but it WILL slowly ruin all the gears, and wind up costing a lot more than $70 in parts (which is what the bearings cost)

from your description is sounds like input shaft bearing
although its best to check other parts, which are easier to fix
wheel bearing
axles
throw out bearing

Well I can tell you that my driver side axel has crapped out on me because of 3 1/4 mile runs w/ my Drag radials about 3 weeks ago.

The car is beginning to make some noises that could either be a bearing or my Azenis showing signs or wear.
As for the TO bearing and input shaft bearing im not sure exactly what to check for to know if those are the culprit.
