Default What size are the factory speakers in '93 civic si HB?

I'm wanting to surprise my son with some new ones, but I don't have access to the car to check. Seems like they are 6.5" in the door and maybe 5.25" in the rear? Can someone please confirm/correct? Thanks!

Well, from the factory, I believe that the front door speakers are 5 1/4's, but if you cut the black plastic surround piece a little, you can fit 6 1/2's in there no problem.

Not sure what the rear ones are, but they probably are 5 1/4's.

That is correct, Si hatchbacks take 5 1/4 speakers in the front and the rear. You can purchase 6 1/2 spacers but with 2 good sets of 5 1/4's I would not worry about it.

I removed the black plastic surround and just attatched the speakers to the door itself. I have 6.5" in front. I belive factory was infact 5.25" all the way around, of course it's always good to have proof as I'm not 100% sure.

Mounting it straight to the door is an option but if you get a good quality speaker the magnet might be 2 deep and the window will hit when you roll it down. I have 6.5 in the front using the spacer rings and 5.25 in the rear hooked to a 100 watt amp and it sounds great.

just did this last week. Get a set of 6-1/2" speakers, they'll sound much better. Also get some 1" thick spacer/adapters from best buy. They have them for $12 for the pair. That way the speakers won't hit the glass.

Nice dad by the way...

spacers, eh? lol, i went crazy with the rotozip and a tank of compressed air last night and hacked the **** out of the stock black plastic surround trying to make my ultimate 6.5s fit... lol. Oh yeah, and that didn't help much at all. the 6.5s still won't fit.

anyone got a pic of the spacer things for 6.5s? mucho appreciated.

I can't find a pic on ebay but they are just 1/2-1" thick black plastic rings. They will be made by a company called metra.

Alot of companies make those adapters to add the 6.5 instead of the 5.25 speakers the only problem is good speakers dont fit cause of the magnet, I had to use my dremel and hack the hell out of them just for my base line rockfords would fit, same with alpine
