clanky noise
i've got a metallic clanky sounding noise on my front right. i hear it when the clutch is engaged between gears. only when the car is moving. so the car is like, 1st gear vroom ...engage clutch, clanky clanky shift to 2nd vroom ...engage clutch, clanky clanky shift and so on. is this my wheeel bearing going out? it does it in every gear and only when the car is moving, even going into first gear. i do not think it's the tranny or the axle, but i could be wrong.

I agree. I'd replace it

yeah, that had crossed my mind. dammit. i've got the next two days off at least. i sure was hoping it was the hub. i guess a throwout bearing is cheaper. alright, thanks. i'll post what it was once i figure it out.

hoW about this. do u have a short shifter? if it's only making the noise when your shifting gears, could be your shifters loose on the linkage.... just a idea b4 u go pulling the tranny apart. or the linkage could be hitting something. my short shifter makes a clinking noise when i shift gears, i like it
well before i took the tranny apart, i took off the exhaust and the noise is gone. it seems that my cat is fried and for some reason the thing was rattling when i shifted. now i just need to find a highflow cat and a new muffler.
2 things :-)
1) I'v had/hear'd the same problem and found my throw-out bearing was done.
2) I'v busted the cat a few times now and the contents just rattled in the muffler - at the back of the car.
If it was me (just to be sure) I'd shake the muffler by hand. If it sounds like an oversized baby rattle your on the right track. Otherwise I'd take a second look at the throw-out bearing. Good luck!
