Anyone ever try this?
I was looking at my Rex today and thinking to myself how much I hate the way the exhaust mounts. You know what I'm talking about, that stupid 90-degree turn it makes before entering the muffler. I figured thats bad enough...Noooooo. Honda decides to take another 90-degree turn into the outlet. So, I was wondering if anyone had ever seen or tried the exhaust mounted straight out from the passenger side of the car. It looks halfway possible but the muffler would have to be super small/short.
If anyone has tried this, how did it affect your performance? Sound level? Would this decrease the backpressure so much that it would be detrimental to the already sub-par torque output? If anyone has any comments or would like to chat with me about this e-mail me @ chilpyl@aol.com.
Thanks alot guys,
Chris

Someone else around here took the time to actually fill in the cutout for the muffler and moved it to the pass. side. You'll have to search for that one.
As for performance, we usually run the open downpipe at the track. With it on, it's pretty quiet, no buzziness or anything. It was put on after the turbo, so I wouldn't know how loud it is all motor.
I think it looks like *** when it comes out the passenger side, especially cause theres gonna be that cut out in the drivers side with nothing there.....I've seen it before and it just doesn't look right.....
Theres a nice clean alpine green CRX on here that also has right hand exhaust. what he did is he traced the size of the exhaust hole on the driver side, used the tracing to cut that piece out on teh passenger side, then bondo the piece back into the driver side so it looked like factory right hand exhaust. wootness.
As for the way it looks, it wasn't a concern. It was the easiest way to route the exhaust without a lot of bends.
I'd dump it right under the car before the rear suspension if I wasn't concerned about the local PD.
