need help getting my tranny apart
ok heres the deal. I bought a quaife differential for my coupe ( ls motor, ls tranny)
so i got all 15 or so bolts off the tranny and took out the two bolts that hold the reverse *****(or something ) off to. but when i pull up on the casing it goes up so far then acts like it is being held back by something, and yes i have broken the seal . I know i did all this right cus on my old tranny ( that was 1994 ls tranny) i had a shop take it apart and they undid all 15 bolts the two reverse bolts with the ***** in them but they undid some bolt on top and undid a snap ring and the case came off, well this new tranny i have is a 1999 tranny and when i took off the top bolts there is no snap ring. Does anyone know what is keeping it down, I am a diyer type of person and i dont trust shops to do the work so will someone with actuall knowledge help me out and the helms manual doesnt show you **** on how to do this.

How far up does it go? If the snap ring is still in place, it shouldn't move more than 1/8 of an inch. I forget if there is also a bolt holding the reverse idler gear shaft in the housing (maybe a bolt on top).
