New Kumho ECSTA V700 Available!
Anyone got a new set yet? Curious how they perform on a track (not autocross, but an actual road course track). Comparative to the V700 Victoracer a 1 and Hoosier a 10, where do the new tires fit in...(trying to figure out if I need to get a set of these instead of Hoosiers next).
I just got mine in last Thursday and I'm going to mount them this week and going to be trying them out for the first time at an auto-x on Nov. 18th and then a track day at Sebring long course on Dec. 9th. Can't wait to see how these compare to the previous version.
Actually, I would like to hear opinions about the Escta V700 used for autocrossing as well, compared to the old Victoracer V700s.
Sorry, J28S, I know you were looking for track experiences only, but I think people would like to hear anything they can about the new tires

Lundgren, I'm pretty sure Dave Schotz has them on the back of his Z06. You might want to check with him.
I dunno but I hear for D-Stock next year, the Falken Azenis will be the way to go. However, they're not uh, made in the right size for my car, so I think I'll be looking at the new Ecstas V700s depending on what people say about them.

Does anyone know when (or if) the other sizes will be available? I'm particularly interested in the 235/45/13 that I heard was going to be released.
I'm really hoping the new Kumho gives Hoosier a run for their money. $150 each for the little donuts I run is just out-right price gouging IMO. But, no one else offers the size I "need". Competition from another tire company will drive prices down and ultimately deliver us better products in the future.

I saw on tire rack they are out, im pretty pissed because I bought some victoracers 225/50/15.. The new ones are 225/45/15
I thought 225/45/15 will have even more clearance issue than 225/50/15 due to wider surface. I am still trying to find out how I can make the 225/50/15 to fit onto a stock ITR.

NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are much slower than R-compound tires.

I might have a fighting chance then, but I guess everyone who is a quick autocrosser won't follow that "advice".
Pssst, that's why I was suggesting everyone else run them while I'm on the new Kumhos.

. Me, thinking you were being serious. Doh! Hahaha. Are you going to try and run the Pro Solo event in Feb. at Ft. Myers again this season? I am trying to come down and run a few of the Evolution schools right before the the event. We will see.EC
in answer to the original question: from what i was told when the new v700 was being develped was that it wa supposed to compete against the toyo ra-1
not as sticky as the old v700, but will last longer. im excited to try it as
1) it is really tough getting a good price on RA-1 these days
and

The Ecsta V700's are now available in Z06 sizes. my boss (errr former boss) got some this past monday for his Z06. the problem is that the rear's have a smaller over all dia than the fronts. it looks goofy.
This is not true..... they will be similar to the current V700, but better. More grip, better response, etc. The initial reviews from the test drivers have been VERY positive....

Mine were mounted up yesterday by 0-man (thanks Oscar).
I got the 225/45-15 to run on my Celica (previously was running 225/50-15). The new ones are about 5 pounds lighter at full tread than the old ones, that is a bonus. They don't look any wider, and are definately skinnier than a 225/45-15 hoosier.
I'll be running them in 2 weeks at the THSCC invatational, and again on Nov 18 at the NASA VA event.
Hopefully they grip as good as they look!
