Default d16z6 T25 turbo... a few questions!

I have been doing a lot of reading about the T25 turbo and I'm trying to figure out if it is going to be a good turbo for my setup.

I've heard that it is good for quick spool up but that it poops out up top.

If anyone has experience with this, please tell me about it!

I am only shooting for about 180hp because my engine is completely stock and I don't want to blow it up too quickly!

Also, for those of you who have T25's which style do you have? DSM or Garrett? See pic....

Garrett -

or DSM -

I'm thinking that garrett is the way to go as far as ease of installation etc.

I am looking for any feedback about this turbo before I buy one!

Please give any experiences/impressions/complaints etc about this turbo!

Thanks!

for the amount of boost that your going to be able to run on a d16z6 I don't see you having problems up top. It should spool up pretty quick. I am selling the garret turbo you have listed.

For your position, (not going to run alot of boost on a stock d16 bottom end) I wouldn't see any reason for you to go with anything larger then a t25. You would just get more lag and make close to the same peak hp numbers.

I used to have a turboed d16 in my eg hatch (now sold) and I wasn't running more then 8 psi. For me it was laggy and I would have been much better off running a smaller turbo like a t25. If I would have kept it, it would either have a t25 or a 9b off my 3000gt on it.

You'll like the t25. I just installed a dsm t25 on my friend's y7/y8 mini-setup in an eh. Its spools up by 3000 rpm and hit full boost like 3700 rpm. Its pretty quick. You can feel the torque when the turbo hits full boost. My friend like's the turbo. I even like how it throws me to the back of his seat when I'm driving. You'll be sastified. And he's only running 8 psi with an fmu and missing link.

yea man i just went and got me a std exhaust manifold today im looking to buy a t25 from someone or something! Im going to use it because thats most common one i hear being used on d16's. I have a d16 now with a 55 shot(which im going to ditch when i go turbo) Im debating on ordering the adapter for the manifold to the turbo from ebay. Any suggestions for me will help to!!!!!!!

Check out BMC racing on http://Homemadeturbo.com

He makes really nice quality adapter plates for a hf mani/T25 combo...

I think I'm going to buy one from him, once I make a decision about which turbo I want to go with!

I ran a dsm t25 on my old a6 motor in my crx. Was about a 500 dollar kit. I was very pleased with the turbos performance. It spooled really fast, but like you said it does die off on the top end. But made solid power to about 6300rpm.

i got a dsm t25 and 180 hp is a lot to ask from it...most likely you would proll have to run 10-12 psi to get that number...

This is what I have been hearing...

Some say, "yeah, that turbo kicks *** on a d16! It's a perfect turbo for your set up!"

and others tell me, "the T25 loses power at higher RPMs, and you won't make much power with it!"

Any other experiences or comments?
