JDM shift knob on 98-01 GSR
So I think I got a RSX or maybe USDM type r shift ****.
My question is the nut. I put it on the nut first, then the **** and it will straighten out the numbers, however it seems to loosen quickly.
I took off the nut and screwed on the **** directly and it tightens, but of course the numbering doesn't line up.
Is there something I'm doing wrong? It is common for the **** to loosen w/ the nut?

put the not down first all the way, then screw the shift know ALMOST all the way down.. then tighned the nut on to the shift ****, of course line the #'s up 1st... so have a wrench handy
I think the nut looks ugly so do what i did to get the numbers to line up, get a hack saw and cut the top thread of the shifter, then screw on the **** and see how it lines up, if its still off, file (dremell???) off a little of the top of the shifter and try again (only file the smallest amount, maybe a 10th of a mm, i was lucky in that i managed to get it absolutely 100% straight and murder tight on my second attempt and not having to use the nut shortens tha shift lenght slightly also!

I wadded up small pieces of paper and put them inside the shift ****. Kept tightening, taking it off, adding more paper, tightening it again, etc. Not a very technical way to do it but it works.
