Need your opinion...
I know you all hate these posts on "who will beat who", but this is really important to me. I have this kid who is totaly bashing the ITR in every way he possibly can. He calls it an import POS and that it makes the sound of a bumble bee as it passes. Well, he just bought a new 2001 Mustang GT Automatic. He is still talking **** saying how bad he can beat me and stuff. I was just curious how I would do? I have AEM CAI, and I just removed my spare and 10" sub and box. I'm hoping I can take him from a stop. I am going to get him on a curvy *** road and I know for sure I can take him there. So, guys, what do you think the outcome will be if we were to race? What would RPM would you launch at? Thanks guys. Just curious...
not sure if there were any HP differences between the 99-01's but i remember one night a black GT came up to me and we both took off from a roll. he ended up getting me by like half a nose or a half car length. back then i had an aem cai. im not sure how it will end up from a dead stop but unless he torque brakes before the launch, i think it will be a very close race, hopefully with you being the winner.

Excellent Post Flux,
I agree wholeheartedly!!!
Now for you with an nice new PY ITR,,, invite your friend to the local Autocross event and then See just who is the better driver and just who beats who. You may be surprised, I am a novice in CSP and was able to constantly beat an ITR with a JRSC. It was my first race and I believe the other guys too. He had to have had at least 40 to 50 more HP than me and gobs more TQ from the bottom. But numbers are numbers and I beat him in all my 7 runs, "He left after 5 runs."
It's not the car or HP or TQ it's the driver that counts the most and by Flux's and my advice We Don't want you to become another casualty.
I lost my first PY to a stupid accident that included Excessive speed, a deer, late night out, and really bad judgement. I was lucky to come out unscathed and live to have my insurance company buy me another ITR.
But, as it seems I am an exception...
Good luck, and coming from one who knows; DON'T BE STUPID!
A.
PS as per the news clipping, 3 kids DIED and the other 3 involved were lucky to get away with minor injuries.
PPS and NO WE won't CHILL OUT! Just how old are you anyway? how many years of driving experience do you have under your belt? Accidents happen everyday "one just happened in front of me 2 days ago." But street racing and the results are NOT AN ACCIDENT!

Hmm, don't race. 4 kids just died doing something like that. As for who would win? You can out-corner him, but he's faster. 1/4 for a Mustang GT Auto is probably in the low 14's. I believe the manual GT does it in 13.8-14.2. A good driver, under good conditions could pull off a 14.7 in an ITR, MAYBE 14.6. There are a few other driver's here who may have done better. but they are few and far between. Don't do it. Peace.

he has an automatic gt not manual though, i suggest you find a friend with an import pos supra to race him
Btw i think u guys need to chill on this anti street racing stuff, it's not YOUR life, and chances are whatever you say will have NO effect on the person considering street racing, all this admonishing posts make me think I’ve stumbled into the right wing Christian coalition of Acura owners

Ryan, I would advise you to lookup specs on the GT in another forum.
Unfortunately, I have to agree with Flux on the issue. You're one cool guy man, but when I almost spun out my ITR in the twisties(Helen Type R Meet), I kinda had a reality check. Just take it to the strip, you'll find out once and for all. And you guys can run it all night if you'd like. Settle it like mature adults.
On another note: You car is not a purpose built drag-car. I wouldn't be suprised if he beat you.

I also agree with the others with keeping it off the street. Especially considering him in the "twisties." It sounds like he's cocky so he'll problably try to show off around a turn if you get him there, then spin out those back wheels and fish tail like the GT LOVES TO DO! and then what? Someone's gunna get hurt on the street. I almost died when I flipped my mustang when I was dicking around. NOTE: mine was a convertible (not a pretty sight)
The stats on a automatic GT Mustang are hard to come by....
I know a automatic mustang GT convertable does 0-60 in 6 seconds and 1/4 mile in 14.7.
Being that a regular GT is a few hundred pounds less than a convertable, you likely don't have much of a chance from a standstill. On the highway it may be a different story. Not sure though.
