i need advice, I got a 96 civic HB with a D16y8 with a bad clutch (really bad), and i got a friend selling me a b16 from a honda del sol, it's single cam but vtec and it's got a type r cam, and a type r tranny (which i don't know if it's true) it come with the ECU and al the wiring, for 700$ he said he's gonna help me intall it which it great since i got not much experience, i'd like to know what do u guys think please if u think this is a deal or not, because i could sell my d16 and get 300 for it i guess so that i only wind up payin 400 for the engine and installation.

 

B16 is DOHC VTEC. Is it B16A2 or B16A3? I'd pay $700 for a B16 swap, especially if you trust the friend.

 

Its not likely that the SOHC B series that he claims to have has a ITR (DOHC) cam in it. DOHC's have two cams one for intake one for exhaust. SOHC have one cam for both intake and exhaust valves. So explain to me how their is a ITR cam in a SOHC engine. Then explain how the ITR tranny (B series) bolts up to the single cam engine (D series). Sounds like somebody is pullin ur chain. Theirs no such thing as a SOHC B series. Plus for $700 ur not gunna get a working B series. Just my $.02

 

Doesnt sound like someones pulling his chain. It just sounds like his not sure about the single cam. Im thinking it is a B16 but he got the single cam wrong. Cause he said its gonna have a Type R tranny and Type R cam. I would take it.
