Is there anything I can modify with my car to make it fast
I have a 91 Civic HB with the worst engine, Is there anything i can do to the intake manifold or anything in the car for that matter to make it go just a bit faster. Any info will help me out alot thanks.
from one new guy to another use the search its got tons of info in the archives. For basics you'll need to know what your budget is if you've got the cash get a engine swap. You'll need to know your level of mechanic skills so you can save money on labor. Theres alot more but searching will answer all of the other stuff. Welcome to honda-tech it will seem hostile at times, but thats usually a battle over who knows the most or who has the most invested in their cars. My favorite is personal attacks on anothers taste. Clean, flashy, fast or ricey we all have the same basic love our Honda's and what we can do to them.
From your post it seems like you want to keep the stock engine. You didn't state what trim you have - Si, Dx.....
I'm going to assume you do not have the Si.
So, for starters you should look into the DPFI to MPFI swap. Basically that's going to use the intake manifold from the Si as well as the Si ECU.
You can add an aftermarket cam to that if you want a little more from it.
You can also take off the stock head and put on a head from a newer VTEC motor - D16Z6 or the D16Y8. (Search around - this is what is called a "mini-me".) With that setup you can convert from OBD0 to OBD1 so you can take advantage of the nice chips offered for the OBD1 ECU's. Adding a cam could net you some more power down the road if you wish.

How about a good tune up for starters...get wheel balanced, aligned...make sure car runs straight and fires right up...Then go with the above mentioned (MPFI swap)...and I/H/E...
^^ and if you dont know what I/H/E means its
Intake, Header, Exhaust ... But if you can get around to getting some headlight fluid, and another transmission you should be good...
Just make sure if you get your tires aligned they put they dont put the right on the left or you'll drive in circles

if they top off the transmission overflow tank, you will have to get a new trans. and dont rotate the tires, or your car will only go in reverse.

A 70hp Civic STD? I'd build it up for ITC, go out there and have a blast with the stock engine
