GSR head on the b16a is a really good upgrade from the b16a head. Some reasons why it would be better to use gsr parts: cams, more compression, better low end, use b16a timing belt and gsr injectors also use the head bolts from the gsr . I suggest a Skunk2 intake manifold, JG t/b, type-R cams

Isn't the gsr head a downgrade? Why does the ITR use a p&p B16 head then? And if you use the skunk intake manifold on the gsr head you'll lose the lower end power but gain higher end cause of the different runners.
Why not just put some money into the B16 head? CTR cams, TB, ITR intake manifold, etc. IMO

the head i would be using has been cleaned, new seals, p&p, valve job, coated to run cooler, etc, so i was wonderng if it would be worthwhile. while it's out, i'd be dropping in cams (of which i haven't decided yet). i know that pr3 heads flow well and that's why itr's use them, but a worked gsr head can be made to flow much better.

well in that case I'd probably go for the gsr head. What kind of cams you thinking of getting? What are your goals for car, street/strip?

thanks for the dyno chop suey, i was looking for that.

as far as cams, i haven't decided yet. it kind of depends on how much i end up having to spend for next season. skunks new are 600, CTR's new are 500, or i could just get the CTR intake cam for now to drop in. then there's the crowers and todas. we will see. goal next season is to break 13's all motor.

I don't fully believe that graph, it doesn't say how well they're tuned, how many runs were done, etc. I know a guy that put a B16 head on a gsr(fully built runs high 12's), why would he do that? I won't argue anymore about that point, B18C, B16A, and the B18C5 heads are all good.

Here's a good website that might help you decide on which cams to go with:

Good luck.

why would he do that? poorman's type r my friend. that's a very good setup. so is a worked gsr head.

i decided to not get the gsr head now. i bought a full ITR valvetrain yesterday from a friend (cams, springs, retainers) for $400. so i'm gonna drop those in and have work done on my existing head and see where that gets me. it will be fun, and i can always change the setup.
